STREET ART FOR HUMAN RIGHTS - AGAINST TERROR AND INTOLERANCE
Some of the world’s leading street artists are coming to Oslo from 1 to 19 August 2011 to show their support for Human Rights Watch by conducting an Art Walk and memorial murals to honour the victims of the terror of July 22. The artists will decorate the facades of nine central buildings covering more than 600 square meters of high quality art for everyone to enjoy. Stay tuned on the blog to follow the daily updates on the creation of The Art Walk. Or have a walk around town to see it for yourself!
Additionally, there will be a street art exhibition 19 August to 4 September held at Blomqvist with sale proceeds benefiting Human Rights Watch’ work at the frontlines of humanity. The exhibition will consist of artworks from well recognised contemporary street artists such as Faile, SEEN, D*Face, The London Police, Shepard Fairey, Vitaly Rusakov (Mizer), Fenx, Logan Hicks, Will Barras, Martin Whatson, Galo, and Nicolay Aamodt.

The artists and the organisers, T&J Art Walk, want to make a statement against terrorism, intolerance and hate by supporting Human Rights Watch in its work. They believe that the best way to combat extremism is to promote universal human rights and to counter the intolerance and xenophobia that can give rise to violence and that some use even to try to justify terrorism.
